Telemedicine in the service of healthcare
The French government, Banque des Territoires, Macif and SWEN Capital Partners have joined forces with TokTokDoc to bring clinical telemedicine closer to isolated and vulnerable populations.
TokTokDoc announces a €5 million financing round. The French government, via the Programme d'Investissements d'Avenir "Territoires d'innovation", the Banque des Territoires, Macif, via its Macif Innovation company dedicated to financing and investing in various structures such as start-ups and insurtech, and SWEN Capital Partners, via its FCPI Innovation Pluriel n°5 fund, are investing in TokTokDoc.
They join long-standing shareholders Crédit Mutuel Arkéa, via its We Positive Invest societal innovation fund, and Groupe Vivalto in renewing their commitment. Bank financing completes these investments.
Thanks to this strong commitment, TokTokDoc is extending access to local telemedicine, in line with the French healthcare model. This form of medical care, combining digital technologies and human presence, has proved its worth in treating chronic and disabling pathologies in the geriatric and disability sectors, both in institutions and at home.
Telemedicine on mass-market platforms cannot meet the unique needs of the 18 million elderly, isolated or dependent people. Videoconferencing alone between doctor and patient often limits medical assessment, access to specialists and therapeutic decisions.
Dr. Laurent Schmoll, ENT surgeon, co-founder and medical director:
" We are convinced that nurses can play a decisive role in effective telemedicine. Their presence enriches the teleconsultation with a physical examination and diagnostic elements thanks to connected medical devices (cardiac ultrasound, gasometry, ECG, stethoscope, audiometry). The doctor can concentrate on a well-prepared remote procedure, while the patient is reassured that he or she will be fully taken care of. This mode of care, which combines the digital and the human, makes it possible to avoid numerous transports and hospitalizations, and proves to be a source of substantial savings for the Assurance Maladie ".
This model has been tried and tested by TokTokDoc, notably through its Mobile Telemedicine Polyclinic, a real "hospital outside the walls", an experiment recognized under Article 51 of the French Social Security Financing Law, validated and authorized by the French Ministry of Solidarity and Health, the Caisse Nationale d'Assurance Maladie and the Agence Régionale de Santé du Grand Est.
TokTokDoc nurses, experts in telemedicine, reinforce the care teams at our facilities. This contribution of skills and human resources generates an average 10-fold increase in teleconsultations and tele-expertise, for the benefit of proactive, preventive medical care for residents.
TokTokDoc's ambition is to extend this concept and bring this new organization of care into the mainstream, for the benefit of the greatest number and the well-being of the most vulnerable.
